It's time to look ahead. Gregg Rosenthal breaks down who to keep and who to ditch in Part I of his Top-50 Keeper rankings.

 Byron Leftwich-QB-SteelersJan. 6 - 3:14 pm et
Steelers beat reporter Ed Bouchette doesn't expect Byron Leftwich to enter Sunday's playoff game even if Ben Roethlisberger has a "horrible" first quarter.
Bouchette believes Roethlisberger is "fine" despite being knocked out of the team's Week 17 game. Leftwich gives the Steelers one of the better fallback options in the league, but it appears they're not putting Ben on a short leash.

 Bryant McFadden-DB-SteelersJan. 6 - 3:09 pm et
Beat reporter Ed Bouchette expects the Steelers to start CB Bryant McFadden across from Ike Taylor in Sunday's Divisional Round game.
McFadden was arguably Pittsburgh's top corner early in the season before breaking his arm. He will likely line up mostly across from Chris Chambers with Taylor on Vincent Jackson. Taylor held V-Jax to 25 yards on two grabs in Week 11. Deshea Townsend will likely be the Steelers' nickel back Sunday.

 Trent Edwards-QB-BillsJan. 6 - 2:54 pm et
The Bills claim Trent Edwards has lost no arm strength due to his shoulder trouble, but confirmed he is getting opinions from two doctors this week.
The injury was discovered during Edwards' exit physical and is to his right (throwing) shoulder. Initial reports indicate that the injury is not serious, but if he does need an operation Edwards' future outlook could change.

 Parys Haralson-LB-49ersJan. 6 - 2:30 pm et
Employing a stricter 3-4 defense after Mike Nolan was fired, the 49ers used OLB Parys Haralson as a full-time starter down the stretch in 2008.
Haralson responded with 4.5 sacks in the last seven games. The club is too needy elsewhere to worry about bringing in competition for Haralson in 2009, so he'll be a sleeper to post double-digit sacks in his contract year.

 Ben Roethlisberger-QB-SteelersJan. 6 - 2:20 pm et
Coach Mike Tomlin reiterated Tuesday that the Steelers have a "clean bill of health" heading into Sunday's Divisional Round game.
Tomlin says Ben Roethlisberger (concussion) will be under "close scrutiny" against San Diego, but as long as Big Ben plays well he'll be left in the game. The Steelers practiced Monday and will return to the field Wednesday.

 Jerraud Powers-DB-PlayerJan. 6 - 2:10 pm et
Auburn CB Jerraud Powers will forgo his senior season and enter the NFL Draft.
A two-year starter for the Tigers, Powers (5'10/192) contributed 47 tackles, two picks, and seven pass breakups as a junior. He is not regarded highly at this time, but Pro Day and Combine testing could help him get drafted.

 James Casey-TE-PlayerJan. 6 - 2:00 pm et
Rice TE/WR/FB James Casey has decided to forgo his senior season with the Owls and enter the 2009 NFL Draft.
The nation's most multi-talented player in 2008, Casey scored 19 all-purpose touchdowns as basically an H-back/slot receiver. He's older than the average rookie after spending four years contemplating major league baseball. Casey doesn't block much and won't appeal to everyone, but could fit in on a team that values position versatility like the Patriots, Colts, Chargers, or Saints.
